1star1a.gifOCWC Accomplishments:
  • Assessed the health environment of the cities of Holland, Zeeland, Coopersville, and Spring Lake Village.
  • Planned, promoted, & implemented a Community Health Forum in March 2006.
  • Received the following grants:
    • $15,000 from The Kellogg Foundation for OCWC initiatives.
    • $50,000 from Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) to assist the city of Holland in creating the Holland Wellness Trail (to be unveiled spring 2007.)
    • $6,000 from MDCH / MSU Extension for coalition development.
    • $77,700 from MDCH / MSU Extension for Policy and Environmental Change efforts in 4 Ottawa County Communities in 2007. (Coopersville, Grand Haven, Holland and Zeeland)
  • Park equipment purchased / installed for Lawrence Park in Zeeland.
  • Currently planning & promoting The Golden Shoe Campaign which will begin in April 2007.
Initiatives of OCWC
Coopersville Community Trails - Connects Coopersville Area Public Schools' campus to neighborhoods and historic downtown.
 
Holland Apple Trail - located at 712 Apple Ave. is 1/2 mile and features a basketball and volleyball court.
 
Zeeland NorthSide Pathway- a 1.5 mile pathway that runs from State St./96th Ave. to Fairview Ave.
