OCWC Accomplishments:
- Assessed the health environment of the cities of Holland, Zeeland, Coopersville, and Spring Lake Village.
- Planned, promoted, & implemented a Community Health Forum in March 2006.
- Received the following grants:
- $15,000 from The Kellogg Foundation for OCWC initiatives.
- $50,000 from Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) to assist the city of Holland in creating the Holland Wellness Trail (to be unveiled spring 2007.)
- $6,000 from MDCH / MSU Extension for coalition development.
- $77,700 from MDCH / MSU Extension for Policy and Environmental Change efforts in 4 Ottawa County Communities in 2007. (Coopersville, Grand Haven, Holland and Zeeland)
- Park equipment purchased / installed for Lawrence Park in Zeeland.
- Currently planning & promoting The Golden Shoe Campaign which will begin in April 2007.
Initiatives of OCWC Coopersville Community Trails - Connects Coopersville Area Public Schools' campus to neighborhoods and historic downtown.
Holland Apple Trail - located at 712 Apple Ave. is 1/2 mile and features a basketball and volleyball court.
